Inspirational adventurer, para rower and disability ambassador, Kelda Wood, joins Row Britannia

On the 27th January 2019, Kelda became the first para rower to solo row the Atlantic as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. She spent 76 days on the ocean and rowed 3,500 nautical miles.

Kelda took on the challenge to motivate, inspire and support young people facing physical or mental trauma.  Her efforts raised over £50,000 for Climbing Out, changing the whole outlook for the charity and enabling them to support many more young people in the future.

Kelda has battled against the odds and after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, returned home, retrained as an outdoor instructor and set up Climbing Out; the charity runs 5-day outdoor activity programmes aimed at rebuilding confidence and self-esteem in young people who have been through life-changing injury or illness.

Kelda has climbed the 7 highest summits in the 7 continents and has also reached the North and South Poles.

Kelda is passionate about helping young people and we are delighted she is joining Row Britannia.  Kelda hopes to visit The University Centre Shrewsbury or University of Chester on the 29th January 2019 between 2pm and 3.30pm.
