British Adventurer and UK Scouting & Over The Wall Ambassador, James Ketchell, joins Row Britannia

On 1st February 2014, James became the first and only person to have rowed across the Atlantic Ocean, successfully summited Mount Everest and cycled 18,000 miles around the world, in what the media dubbed, “The Ultimate Triathlon”.

Seven years prior to this, James was recovering from a serious motorcycle accident that left him with broken legs as well as a severely broken and dislocated ankle. The prognosis was that he was likely to suffer a permanent walking impairment.

In 2015 James was rescued in the Indian Ocean along with his rowing partner as they attempted to row from Western Australia to Mauritius, resulting in a full scale rescue that was global news. James found himself clinging to a rope ladder on the side of a

100-000 ton crude oil tanker in storm force winds.

James truly believes that every young person has the ability to be whoever they want to be and the capability to succeed lies within everyone. He feels it is now his duty to give back to young people and along with his responsibilities as a Scouting Ambassador this will always be at the core of everything he does.

James is an Ambassador for the children's charity Over The Wall.

We are delighted James has joined Row Britannia and will be visiting Brunel University on the 27th February at 12noon.
